The Walt Disney Company and Club Penguin

With its Toontown, Disneyfairies, and Disney Channel sites up and running on the Web, and the Pirates of the Caribbean site soon to launch, The Walt Disney Company is already making its presence felt in the digital world. But the entertainment giant apparently wants to own the children’s online gaming and social networking business. To add to its audience, the company recently bought Club Penguin, a popular virtual world Web destination for the 6-to-14-year-old crowd operated out of British Columbia in Canada.
