Don Liu, a high-profile advocate of diversity in the law, has left his position as general counsel at IKON Office Solutions, Inc. In April, Liu, 43, joined home building giant Toll Brothers, Inc., as senior vice president, GC, and chief compliance officer. Both companies are located in the Philadelphia area.

In addition to overseeing IKON’s legal and regulatory affairs, Liu also served as chairman of its diversity council. He is currently one of only three Asian American general counsel at Fortune 500 companies. A member of the board of directors of the Minority Corporate Counsel Association, Liu has used his position at Ikon to pressure law firms to diversify their ranks. Five years ago he received the MCCA/American Lawyer Media Diversity 2000 Award for promoting diversity in the practice of law. (Minority Law Journal is owned by ALM, formerly American Lawyer Media.)
