In a case stemming from a deadly Bolivian plane crash in which 71 out of 77 passengers died, a Miami judge is explaining why he decided to dismiss efforts by the survivors to recover $844 million in judgments from the airline’s reinsurance carrier.
Judge Thomas J. Rebull of Miami-Dade Circuit Court had granted airline reinsurance carrier TokioMarine’s motion to dismiss the lawsuit from the bench in November following oral arguments. On Jan. 22 he issued his opinion outlining his reasoning.
