In February 2023, Amaryllis Müller joined TikTok from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Brussels office as senior legal counsel for antitrust. In September of that same year, the Chinese short-video app owned by ByteDance was designated a gatekeeper by European Commission officials and became subject along with a handful of U.S. Big Tech players to a stringent list of digital competition rules. In an interview with Law.com international, the Belgian-Swiss Harvard-educated lawyer shared what that was like, how bodybuilding helps her unwind and the skills she picked up in private practice.
