    Dentons signs up for MoD contracts role

    Denton Wilde Sapte is advising the Ministry of Defence (MoD) on the negotiation of a series of industry contracts after winning a tender for the role last year. The firm is advising on discussions between the MoD and Devonport Management over contracts relating to maritime facilities at Devonport. The negotiations also involve a long-term partnering agreement between the MoD and BAE Systems over fixed-wing aircraft.

    CC, Dentons lead on landmark $2.5bn Islamic bond creation

    Clifford Chance (CC) and Denton Wilde Sapte have advised on a landmark $2.5bn (£1.3bn) financing for Abu Dhabi-listed Aldar Properties, which sees the creation of the first Islamic convertible bond. CC advised new client, Abu Dhabi real estate development company Aldar Properties on the issue of convertible 'sukuk certificates', fielding a team under Dubai-based capital markets partner Debashis Dey. Capital markets partner Tim Morris led the London team structuring the convertible element of the issue.

    Baker & McKenzie has scooped a prize place on the BBC's roster of advisers, being named as legal adviser to the BBC's new governing body, the BBC Trust. The appointment, which carries no fixed term, will see Bakers' City head of competition, Samantha Mobley, and public law partner Tom Cassells provide competition, public law and regulatory advice to the client.
