    Dechert has unveiled robust financial results for 2007, with the Philadelphia-based law firm notching up double-digit increases in revenue and profits per equity partner (PEP). Dechert saw total fee income rise by 15% in 2007 to reach $836.3m (£428.7m) - marking the third consecutive year in which revenues have increased by more than 10%.

    CLLS signs up LG and Trowers & Hamlins

    Two new London law firms have signed up to the City of London Law Society (CLLS), which now has 51 top practices on its books.City outfits LG and Trowers & Hamlins are the latest firms to join the representative body after signing up during the last 12 months.The newly-expanded body currently represents 35 of the UK's top 50 law firms and five out of the top 20 US firms in the City, including Reed Smith, Dechert and Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, as well as a number of boutiques. It means the body now represents more than 13,000 solicitors overall.

    Proskauer boosts London with McDermott hire

    New York's Proskauer Rose has hired financial services William Yonge as partner for its newly-opened London office, taking him from McDermott Will & Emery's financial services team. Yonge has been at McDermott since 2003 and the firm made him partner in 2006. Before that he was a senior associate at Dechert. At McDermott he has been part of its financial services & funds group and has advised on the structure and establishment of hedge funds and private equity funds, as well as on regulatory issues.

    US Briefing: Law firm leaders gloomy in States for '08

    Managing partners nationwide expect a weak 2008 to bring fewer equity partner promotions, longer hours and higher rates, according to a new survey released Wednesday. Citi Private Bank's Managing Partner Confidence Index found that overall confidence fell nearly 20% in 2007, dropping by larger amounts each quarter. Top law firm consultant Bradford Hildebrandt, whose consulting firm will release its own 2008 forecast soon, says the blue mood is probably going to prove justified.
