    SNR Denton has seen the departure of its London telecoms head Rod Kirwan, who has left to take up a new role as regional general counsel for the Caribbean at Cable & Wireless Communications. Kirwan left SNR Denton in January this year and will now be based in Barbados with Cable & Wireless. TMT partner Jan Willem van den Bos has taken over the leadership of SNR's City telecoms team.

    A quartet of elite New York law firms saw revenues grow last year, as details of the 2011 financial performance of America's top firms continue to emerge, reports The Am Law Daily. The biggest of the four, Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, saw revenue increase 3% to $2.17bn (£1.38bn), while profits per partner (PEP) rose 7% to $2.48m (£1.58m).

    Ropes and Paul Hastings to open in Korea as US firm applications begin

    Ropes & Gray has become the latest firm to announce its intention to open in South Korea, with the firm set to file documentation with the Korean Ministry of Justice today (6 March) - the first day on which US firms are able to do so. The firm plans to open in Seoul as soon as its licence is approved, with New York-based Korea practice chair William Yongkyun Kim, as well as intellectual property (IP) litigator David Chun relocating there to lead the practice.
