    Latham lands Lovells partner in Spanish push

    Latham & Watkins is set to beef up its fledgling Spanish operation with the capture of rated Lovells administrative law partner Antonio Morales. Morales, who will become the second partner in Latham's formative Spanish practice, has held a number of high-profile public positions including a three-year stint as the secretary general of the Nuclear Security Council (NSC) between 2002 And 2005. At the NSC, he was responsible for regulatory issues, enforcement, drafting rules and legal affairs.

    Kirkpatrick & Lockhart Preston Gates Ellis's London office has hired a three-lawyer finance team from Dechert. Andrew Petersen, who specialises in real estate finance and secured and structured lending, has joined the firm as a partner. Two associates are also joining with him. Kirkpatrick's London office has announced a 28% increase in average profits per partner to £385,000. The 26 London equity partners now earn from £200,000 to £700,000.
