    Charles Russell, Bird & Bird and Pinsent Masons have all scored roles on the Football Association (FA) Group's new-look legal panel following a tender process which saw a total of eight firms appointed.     Eversheds Newcastle base hires new corporate chief

    Eversheds has appointed a new corporate head in Newcastle with the hire of former Scottish Power legal director Charles Reynard. Reynard joined the firm last month (18 January), taking over the corporate head position from Alan Fletcher, who has relocated to Eversheds' Edinburgh office in response to an increase in financial services work in the region. Fletcher spent six months on secondment to Bank of Scotland last year.

    DLA Piper accounts reveal 80% increase in net debt to £53m

    DLA Piper has seen its net debt grow by 80% to £53m, the firm's limited liability partnership (LLP) filings have revealed. During the 2008-09 financial year the firm swapped its short-term overdraft facility for term debt facilities committed for three years which saw bank loans increase by more than £50m.
