Kennedys is in early-stage merger talks with top-tier aviation outfit Gates and Partners, in a move which could see the insurance firm branch out into the lucrative aerospace market for the first time. If the tie-up goes ahead it will see Kennedys move into a sector currently monopolised by a small number of firms including Clyde & Co, Holman Fenwick Willan and Norton Rose.It is understood talks between the two firms only started in recent weeks.

Reynolds Porter Chamberlain (RPC) media head Jaron Lewis is leaving the firm to become a full-time district judge on the South Eastern Circuit. Lewis, who first joined RPC in 1997, has been working as a part-time deputy district judge since 2009, handling civil and family matters, including personal injury and housing. He will take up his full-time role at Romford County Court from 18 December.
