    CMS Cameron McKenna seals Dundas merger as Scots takeovers continue

    CMS Cameron McKenna and Dundas & Wilson have sealed a merger deal that will see the Scots firm become part of the CMS network by 1 May next year. The tie-up will see Dundas, one of Scotland's best-known legal brands, join the CMS UK partnership, creating a combined firm with turnover of around £270m.

    Pinsents, MoFo and Greenberg land key roles on £125m LSE bond issue

    Pinsent Masons, Morrison & Foerster (MoFo) and Greenberg Traurig have taken the lead roles on a £125m bond issue by the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). The private placement makes the LSE the latest UK university to tap the bond markets. In July Manchester issued a £300m bond, while both Cambridge and De Montfort universities secured private funding through the sale of bonds in 2012.

    Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, Slaughter and May and King & Wood Mallesons SJ Berwin (KWM) have taken roles as eight global banks reach a settlement with the European Commission (EC) for forming illegal cartels to rig interest rate derivatives. The EC today (4 December) fined eight banks - including the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) and Deutsche Bank - a total of €1.7bn (£1.4bn) for their roles in rigging interest rates in euro- and Japanese yen-denominated derivatives.
