Dell has kicked off a review of its UK panel of law firms in an effort to streamline its current adviser roster.The multinational technology company has given all of its existing panel firms until 22 April to submit their tender documents. The company has previously worked with firms including Baker & McKenzie, Lewis Silkin and Clyde & Co.

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert is set to launch its third office in the UK, with the firm planning an opening in Manchester. Barlows will open the Manchester base with the hire of DLA Piper personal injury duo Rob Muttock and Mark Hemsted. The pair are still in the process of finalising their departure terms from DLA Piper but are expected to join Barlows no later than August, with the office set to focus primarily on the insurance market.The office launch, which adds to existing UK bases in London and Oxford, comes after Barlows recently overhauled its insurance and reinsurance practices - merging the two together. The overhaul took place earlier this year, with London insurance partner Jason Bright appointed to lead the combined team.

Barlow Lyde & Gilbert is set to lose a team of partners to insurance rival Clyde & Co. Legal Week has learned that a group from the firm's newly-merged commercial risk and reinsurance practice is expected to leave the firm over the next few weeks. It is thought that around three partners, including Roger Doulton, will join Clydes. The news comes after Legal Week reported earlier this month that former reinsurance chief Colin Croly had left Barlows after 29 years as a partner. Croly's next move is unclear, but it is understood that he is not joining Clydes.

Clyde & Co has bolstered its London aviation finance practice with the hire of two lawyers from Stephenson Harwood. Mark Bisset and Oliver Tebbit join the firm's City office as a partner and senior assistant respectively.Bisset joins after two years at Stephenson Harwood where he was a partner in the London office, prior to which he was at White & Case.

A raft of City firms have scored seats on Dubai Holding's new panel of preferred firms. Clyde & Co, Pinsent Masons, Eversheds and DLA Piper have all won spots on the panel. Clydes won its role on the back of its relationship with the investor and will advise on real estate, intellectual property, construction and corporate matters.All firms have a strong presence in the Middle East, with Clydes having opened in the region twenty years ago and Pinsents holding offices in Dubai. DLA Piper recently launched an office in Oman and Eversheds has offices in Abu Dhabi and Doha.
