    McDermott's Charnley quits for Mayer Brown

    Mayer Brown has strengthened its London office with the hire of corporate partner William Charnley from rival Chicago firm McDermott Will & Emery. Charnley, who will join Mayer Brown on 1 October, has been handed a mandate to develop the firm's practice in private equity, hedge funds and the investment banking arena.

    US firm Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has become the latest in a string of firms to rebrand and will now practice under the banner Mayer Brown. The name change, which goes live on 1 September, sees the firm ditch the name of legacy mid-tier City firm Rowe & Maw, which it merged with in 2002.
