Mayer Brown has opened a new office in Sao Paulo after hiring Clifford Chance (CC) local head Stephen Hood, the Chicago-based law firm announced yesterday (5 September). US firm Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has become the latest in a string of firms to rebrand and will now practice under the banner Mayer Brown. The name change, which goes live on 1 September, sees the firm ditch the name of legacy mid-tier City firm Rowe & Maw, which it merged with in 2002.

Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw has been hit with another lawsuit regarding its role in the collapse of defunct futures and commodities broker Refco.
