    Ex-Clydes man to head Euler Hermes UK legal team

    Insurance company Euler Hermes UK has named former Clyde & Co partner Richard Barnett as its new head of legal and company secretary. Barnett joined Euler Hermes in July from insurance and reinsurance firm RiverStone, where he was claims and litigation director. He will head up a team of seven lawyers and support staff, reporting to UK chief executive Richard Webster.

    Sole Barlows Singapore partner quits for boutique Gates

    Barlow Lyde & Gilbert has lost its sole Singapore partner after the City firm announced yesterday (6 August) that office head David Johnston is to launch a local base for aviation boutique Gates & Partners. Johnston focuses his practice on acting for aviation insurers and airlines on aviation liability claims and related matters in the Asia Pacific region. He previously headed the Singapore office of legacy aviation firm Beaumont & Son, which merged with top 20 UK law firm Clyde & Co in 2005.

    LG blames office move for 7.5% PEP drop

    LG has turned in disappointing end-of-year financial results, revealing static turnover and a drop in partner profits at the mid-tier City firm. The top 50 UK outfit - known as Lawrence Graham before its rebranding as LG earlier this year - has seen turnover remain flat at £66m, while average profits per equity partner (PEP) dropped by 7.5% from last year's figure of £465,000 to a new mark of £430,000.

    Allen & Overy (A&O) has launched in Abu Dhabi after poaching two local partners from Simmons & Simmons as the firm continues to expand its Middle East presence.
