Depending on how you look at it, litigiousness can be a character flaw - in some highly-strung Hollywood strumpet, for instance - or a noble trait that demonstrates a yearning for justice... if exhibited by, say, a wealthy financial institution or vast entertainment conglomerate. Just on the far side of Crazy-town, USA, lives the less-than-aptly-named Jonathan Lee Riches, who has filed almost 200 law suits in March alone, according to Legal Week's Yankee cousins at law.com. Among his targets last month were silver screen icon Michael Douglas, hair-metal legend Eddie Van Halen... and head-banging Manhattan deal-machine Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom. Riches has also previously filed a $662trn (yup, trillion) suit against American footballer Michael Vick.

A trio of leading New York firms have gained advisory roles on a $7bn (£3.51bn) capital-raising for US lender Washington Mutual.
