    Jones Day adds three partners to London base with Ashurst team hire

    Jones Day has added three partners to its City arm with the hire of a US securities team from Ashurst. The trio comprises US-qualified partners Daniel Bushner, Eric Stuart and Marie Elena Angulo. Bushner and Angulo started at the US law firm at the beginning of last week (23 May), with Stuart set to remain at Ashurst until the end of June to conclude several client matters.

    US law firms score high marks for London vacation schemes

    Three US firms have been rated among the best vacation scheme providers in the UK market, with Legal Week research also seeing Allen & Overy (A&O) identified by students as the most prestigious global law firm for the second year running. The Legal Week Intelligence 2011 Law Student Report saw Latham & Watkins and Baker & McKenzie take the top two spots for UK vacation schemes, with Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton coming in fourth place behind Ashurst.

    Linklaters names partner duo as US co-heads

    Linklaters has appointed new co-managing partners for its US practice, as incumbents Larry Byrne and Nick Rees step down. Conrado Tenaglia and Jeff Norton have been appointed as of 1 May for a four-year term. Norton, who will continue in his role as US banking co-head alongside his new responsibilities, has been at Linklaters since 2005 when he joined from US outfit O'Melveny & Myers. Meanwhile, Tenaglia relocated to the New York office earlier this year from his role as co-managing partner for Linklaters in Spain. He was previously based in the firm's US office from 2001 to 2003 before moving to Madrid.
