    OC and Travers lead on £410m Apollo buy-out

    Osborne Clarke (OC) and Travers Smith have taken lead roles acting for investment duo Lloyds TSB Development Capital (LDC) and Bank of Scotland Corporate respectively on the £410m secondary buy-out of Apollo. The deal sees OC private equity head Greg Leyshon advising LDC on the sale of property services subsidiary Apollo. Travers corporate partners Andrew Roberts and David Innes acted for Bank of Scotland, which provided a debt and equity package to support the incumbent management team. The bank will hold a 20.5% stake in the company going forward, with the remainder held by management.

    Editor's Comment: Lockstep gets old

    "We keep the situation constantly under review" - that favoured non-comment of managing partners everywhere has been getting a dusting off, this time for Ashurst's partnership review. The firm has been here before in 2004 after approving plans to create a bonus pool aimed at rewarding top performers and fending off predatory recruitment. The current review has led to talk of measures designed to produce similar scope to reward top performers. However, following two years of excellent financial performance, such strategic thinking looks as aggressive as the previous initiative was defensive, giving the firm a chance to capitalise on its current strength with top-level recruitment.
