    BLP hikes NQ pay to £65,000

    Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has handed its newly qualified (NQ) solicitors a salary hike of around 5%, taking its rates close to magic circle levels. The above-inflation rise takes NQ pay at the top 20 UK firm to £65,000 - putting it on par with Allen & Overy, which this year froze NQ rates.

    Nabarro recruits to build up Sheffield construction

    Nabarro has beefed up its Sheffield construction practice with a partner hire from a local firm. James Duckworth joins the Sheffield arm of Nabarro from Hull law firm Andrew Jackson, where he was head of construction.     In-house lawyers warn of knock-on effects of private practice pay-hikes

    In-house counsel have hit out at "unsustainable" rises in salaries for private practice lawyers, arguing that they will lead to an unwelcome increase in charge-out rates.
