    A group of the world's leading companies, led by Cisco, have developed an innovative networking website that will give them free access to major law firms' precedents. The computer company is joined by Microsoft, General Motors and investment banking giants Citi and Merrill Lynch in the venture, dubbed Legal OnRamp, which will offer clients access to legal advice, precedents and updates as well as networking facilities such as 'wikis' and online chatrooms.

    Dentons in local tie-up for coveted Saudi market

    Denton Wilde Sapte has secured a prized tie-up with a Saudi Arabian practice as it becomes the latest City firm to launch an associated office in Riyadh. The firm has joined forces with Saudi lawyer Wael Abdulrahman Alissa and hired local Fulbright & Jaworski corporate and commercial senior associate Amgad Husein as a partner to lead the new venture. Husein is US-qualified and has practised in the Middle East since 1999. The firm is planning more hires in coming months.

    BLP continues finance push with hire of Norton Rose LBO veteran

    Berwin Leighton Paisner (BLP) has continued to bulk up its banking and capital markets team with the hire of Norton Rose acquisition finance consultant Philip Whale as a partner. Whale, who co-founded Norton Rose's acquisition finance practice in the 1990s, joined BLP's 10-partner capital markets team this week (18 June). The hire is the latest in a stream of appointments to the expansive City firm's finance practice.
