On Monday, Thomson Reuters introduced a new tool called Claims Explorer, designed to empower legal professionals to identify possible claims and counterclaims by entering the relevant facts of their case. Claims Explorer is the latest generative artificial intelligence skill to be added to Westlaw Precision with CoCounsel, which first incorporated AI-assisted research in November 2023.
The new offering is meant to help users find the right cause of action for their set of facts, taking into account factors such as applicable claim thresholds, damage limits, the availability of attorney fees and more. “For legal professionals filing a lawsuit, defending a lawsuit, or advising clients on potential liability, often their first step is to identify applicable claims or counterclaims,” the news release stated. “Yet not all claims are equal.”
