JetBlue Airways will pay $2 million to settle U.S. Department of Transportation charges of operating four chronically delayed East Coast flights, marking the first time the agency has brought an enforcement action for such airline tardiness, the DOT stated Friday.

“Illegal chronic flight delays make flying unreliable for travelers,” Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said in a statement. “Today’s action puts the airline industry on notice that we expect their flight schedules to reflect reality.”
