The Internet Archive stopped defending its free digital library against a publisher-launched copyright suit and announced that it won’t ask the high court to review whether the depository is a fair use of the publishers’ copyrights.
The archive said in a Wednesday blog post that it would honor an agreement with the Association of American Publishers and remove copyrighted material from the library at publishers’ requests, instead of fighting a ruling from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit requiring the materials’ removal.
