An $11.15 million settlement has been reached in suits by six men who alleged they were sexually abused while attending a New Jersey high school.
The plaintiffs alleged they were abused by Frederick Burkley, a now-deceased shop teacher, at Edison High School from 1979 to 1985.
Burkley abused the students, who were mostly freshmen, in a small room connected to the woodshop in the high school, the plaintiffs alleged. He was ultimately arrested and pleaded guilty to charges in 1986.
