Owing over $202 million to two litigation funders, AkinMears, a small mass torts firm based in Houston, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy.

The Chapter 7 filing, which was filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas on Jan. 23 and assigned to U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Marvin Isgur, says that AkinMears owes over $115 million to Virage SPV 1, a company which also funded now-shuttered Philadelphia mass torts firm Sacks Weston, as well as an additional $86 million to Rocade Capital.
