LinkedIn was hit with a digital privacy class action claiming the social media platform allegedly disclosed personally identifying data and video viewing activity of courses on LinkedIn Learning to Meta Platforms.

Takeaway: In the past few months there have been a plethora of lawsuits filed accusing companies of employing third-party software to garner and sell its users’ information. Chinese internet company ByteDance has also recently been accused of tracking and selling users’ data. Similarly, Gamestop was accused of using third-party software to compile and share website visitors’ personally identifiable information without consent.
